C#

C# pronounced C Sharp is a new language developed by Microsoft.  It is a mix between VB and Java, has an easy to use form designer and many of the old Visual Basic 6 programs are becoming C# programmers.

Differences from C

  • There are no pointers

Every computer that has .Net installed automatically has a C# compiler installed, it is command line only, but gives you access to C# at any time.

The version number can change for the different version of .Net  located in:

C:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\csc.exe

Microsoft also has free Express Editions of all its' .Net software so search for it and you get the free edition.
